How Reading Intervention will support the learner:

What are Virtual  Reading Interventions Sessions?

Your child gets to work, one-to-one, with a personal coach

We use different online video communications software, and evidence-based reading intervention programs that are proven to support the development, enhancement or fundamental basics of reading.

Who leads the Virtual  Reading Coaches?

The program is led by Barbara Williams, Director of Reading Interventions. She has over 20 years experience as a Special Education Consultant.  Barbara is a passionate educator and advocate.

With equity as a core value, Barbara seeks to engage all learners. Literacy is a human right and a great equalizing factor throughout the world.

As a Literacy Leader, Barbara shares her decades of knowledge around effective implementation of reading intervention programs. Her team leadership is based on supportive training models that equip educators with essential skills for reading instruction. Providing a context to deepen the understanding of student learning needs and connecting this to instructional next steps results in a tailored, strengths-based approach.

Our Reading Intervention Coaches are highly trained and skilled from various backgrounds including Special Education, Social Work, ECE, ESL and ABA backgrounds. LEARNstyle prides itself on the diversity among our overall coaching group reflect the lived experiences of our students.

Corrective Reading and Reading Mastery

What does Corrective Reading look like?

GOALS:

Students feel more confident
Sounds and words will become automatic

DESIGNED FOR:

Struggling readers in Grade 3 and up
A Tier 3 intervention for students who need support with
decoding, fluency and comprehension

STRUCTURE:

Lessons follow a clear scope and sequence
All concepts taught to mastery over several months

PROGRAM DETAILS:

One-on-one instruction with a coach
Coaches work in the virtual meeting platform student is familiar with
Timeslots available both outside and within the school day
1 hour virtual program Grades 3-12
3-5 times per week

GOALS:

Students feel more confident
Fluency and comprehension with familiar text

DESIGNED FOR:

Students in grades K-2
A tool for reading intervention

STRUCTURE:

Lessons follow a scope and sequence to build strong decoding skills
All concepts taught to mastery over several months

 PROGRAM DETAILS:

One-on-one instruction with a coach
Coaches work in the virtual meeting platform student is familiar with
Timeslots available both outside and within the school day
1 hour virtual program Grades K-2
3-5 times per week
