We’re honored to be part of the two-year update on Ontario’s Right to Read Report through our partnership with Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB). In response to the alarming number of students with reading challenges, especially from Grade 6 and up, UCDSB has taken significant steps to address these gaps, including a collaboration with LEARNstyle to provide intensive, personalized support.

Together, we’ve implemented a Tier 3 reading intervention for older students, using the SRA Corrective Reading program. Through daily one-on-one sessions via video conferencing, our coaches have been working to build student confidence and literacy skills.

One inspiring story from this initiative is “N,” a Grade 9 student who initially struggled with reading at a Grade 4 level and was disengaged from school. Through the Corrective Reading program, N began to gain confidence and now proudly says, “Learning to read makes me feel very happy. I am proud of what I can do now.”

Our Reading Intervention Coaches are highly trained and skilled with various backgrounds including Special Education teachers, Social Work, ECE, ESL and ABA backgrounds.  LEARNstyle takes pride that the diversity among our coaching teams reflects the diversity of lived experiences among our students.
