Sherri Patterson

Technology Coach

About me.

I went to a small school where I was given so many opportunities to work with younger students and engage with my learning in unique ways because of the size and incredible teachers. My experiences in this wonderful, this type of school influenced me to get into teaching and upon completing my degrees, I moved abroad to begin my teaching career. It was there that I realized how passionately I felt about ensuring all learners have the ability to access information and produce work that makes them feel proud. This was something I tried to do on my own, and I’m so glad to see companies like LEARNstyle who can help students do this and help teachers build success.

My Hero

My parents are my heroes. I’m grateful every day for the sacrifices they both made for me growing up and I know I wouldn’t be where I am without their unwavering support and patience. Their work ethic and kindness have shaped me into the person I am today.

My Passion

I’m passionate about making a difference in the lives of people and animals and the world around me. I’m always looking for ways to help my students succeed and supporting my friends and family however they need. I live a vegan lifestyle and love to do my bit to ensure world is going to be a bit better because of my choices.

Early Beginnings

My family refers to this photo as “pure bliss”. My mom’s old boss used to have Christmas parties at an event space and as you can tell, I LOVED these parties.

Halloween Costume

Maybe it’s not my BEST costume, but one year I went as the abominable snowman solely because it was freezing that Halloween and I didn’t want to have to wear snow pants under another costume. Thick, furry costumes are a YES.

Object I can’t Live Without

An object I can’t live without is my paintbrush. I love to paint, mostly acrylics and watercolours, and I find so much peace in the moments when I get to lose myself in art.

My Happy Place

My happy place is my cottage; it’s been in my family for over 50 years and as a child, I spent the entire summer there with my family and friends.

Growing Up

My grandparents lived with us, so family was always important. As a child, my cousins and I spent the entire summer together at our family cottage, and there is nothing I loved more than being with them. My favourite outing was to the bookshop in town where I would buy as many books as my mom would let me and spent weeks reading on the beach at the cottage or on the window seat at my childhood home. When I wasn’t reading or at the cottage, I was at dance lessons with my best friends, and some of my favourite memories are at our dance competitions.

More about me.

I danced 4-5 days a week from 8 years old until I finished high school. It taught me discipline and strength and pushed me to learn how to balance all the important things in my life. Dance competitions where we got to stay overnight were always the BEST and some of my favourite memories are from this time in my life.

Comfort zones were made to be broken.
