I have always been passionate about education since my mom was an elementary school teacher and I saw the joy it brought to her days. After years working in another industry, I realized that my true potential as a storyteller would only be realized in the form of writing and illustrating my own children’s books and graphic novels. At this point, when trying to decide how to take forward my artistic and professional career, my mom suggested that I get into the role of an educator, both to understand my audience as a writer, and for the amazing fulfillment of teaching the people of tomorrow!
My hero is Bill Watterson! He is the author and illustrator of the bestselling comic strip Calvin & Hobbes. Reading his work early in my prepubescent years, really formed the personality and ethos that I live my life by. Be curious, Be informed, Be creative and MOST of all, HAVE FUN! That is the Bill Watterson philosophy and thus, mine.
My passion is to feed my curiosity and learn about AS many things as possible. I am a very inquisitive individual and as such love to learn about people, culture and everything under the sun (and stars of course!). That’s what gets me up in the morning. A new person, place, animal or thing to learn about.
I had an active and vivid imagination as a child, and I never missed a chance to EXPLORE! In this case it seems, the African Savannah!
My curiosity and imagination kept me going through a not-so-successful academic career, but a deep rooted passion for the arts. Drawing, painting, theater, singing! These were my tools for survival. And I kept at them through my adolescence into my adulthood all thanks to an incredibly supportive family. Do what you love, and love the people that help you do it!
